New TEAS V Science Section

Nursing Students TEAS

Has anyone taken the latest version, the TEAS V? My test is coming up April 6. I have the ATI version V study guide, and the McGraw Hill book.

What should I be sure to study when it comes to the latest version of the test?

ZekeMass and Rookie0, thank you for the replies. I am almost finished with the study guide. I will take one practice exam this Saturday and assess my needs from there. ZekeMass, you are right about only being able to take the tests twice. This is what is says on the ATI website:

*150 question assessment patterned after the actual TEAS V exam

*Designed to give a sense of what to expect both in content and in format

*Ability to take the assessment twice (same set of questions)

*Items accompanied by detailed rationales for correct and incorrect responses

*Available via the internet

Did either of you score lower on the science in the practice exams than on the actual tests?

I took the TEAS test when I went to school back in 08. How did it turn into this huge test? From what I remember of it, it was simply 7th and 8th grade math, english, and science. What's up with all the threads and study guides?

Specializes in CNA.
Yes. I saw where it was talking about up/down, radius increases and left/right, radius decreases. I missed the up/down thing - did not know what "family" meant. Haven't had any chemistry classes - did all biologies. I did, however, still wonder about the differentiation question on 144. The paragraph says it can happen in adults, but the answer to the related problem says it cannot. Did you get a chance to look at that one?

OMG! When I was reviewing this sectoin, I swear I almost pulled my hair out of my head! My book, is like yours. On page 144, it clearly says, "The process of differentiation occurs with cells in the DEVELOPING EMBRYO but can also occur in ADULTS. Cells can divide and remain UNdifferentiated. This produces STEM CELLS."

When the question at the bottom of that page asks if cellular differentiaton may occur in a devolping embryo or in an adult it should be TRUE.

But on page 233, the book says False. It can only occur in stem cells. That's wrong. The paragraph clearly stated that stem cells remain undifferentiated.

so glad i wasn't the only one who noticed this mistake.

Can some please help me! what should I study for the first TEAS V test?

Hello! :-)

I am taking the TEAS V on December 22. Its been 5 years since I took A&P, and over 10 years since I have taken Chemistry. I have a degree in biotech (2005) and I am currently a middle school life and physical science teacher. I have purchased the ATI study guide and both practice exams. Although I have read through every helpful post in this section I would still like to ask your opinion on the depth of material I should review for the test, specifically the science section. I have middle school, high school, and college textbooks for biology, chemistry, anatomy, physiology, physical and life science. Anything helps!

I found the McGraw-Hill Nursing School Entrance Test book very helpful. I also used the Kaplan review book.

Thanks Cortisol. My exam date got moved up and I had to take it today. I did not find this out until Thursday. I ended up using the TEAS V study guide and the online practice exams. I had three days to study. Only 48 hours will tell... lol.

I am taking TEAS V on 11/30/11..today is 11/28...I haven't even started studying yet!

I do have a study guide from ATI...is there anyone who took it without studying and got ok score?

All I need is overall score 70%.

Boojay, How did you end up doing on the exam?

I'm sure you did great! You will probably get your results in less than 48 hours. I got mine the day after my exam (but in the evening). :)

So how did you all end up doing on the TEAS?? :)

Also, what are the time constraints on the test like? I am confused, as I have heard 30minutes/section and other info. However, my ATI study guide just gives the time limit for the entire test as 209 minutes. How much time are we given for each section? Thanks!

30 minutes for section if u do not finish at the end of those 30 min, they move u to the next section , but if u finish before 30 min, they move u to the next section and u loose those min. but u get other 30 min, for the new section.

i know it is confuse but just try to finish every section every 30 min, lol

you have to physically push the done button to move onto the next section, right? Meaning, if you have time left in a section and you skipped a few, and don' want to move on to the next section, can you rewind back and finish those problems you skipped (this is if you still have time)?

Also, really only 30 minutes per section?

i do not remeber lol
