We have it in our undergrad nursing program.. I don't like it, it definitely does not suit my style of learning. Those would be the CRNA programs I would avoid for me personally.

Forgive my ignorance, but what is PBL?

Had the exact same thought.

What is a PBL curriculum, I have heard of CBL (Computer Based Learning).

Are they the same.

No idea what you're referring to as PBL, but many of the students whom I work with, due to their monetary restraints, get heavily into PBJs. Related?

?

PBL is Problem Based Learning. A degree or diploma nursing program which is centered around case studies and independent learning in small groups instead of lectures.

trail_hiker pretty much hit it, except that it can be applied to other disciplines, not only nursing. many, if not most, med programs have incorporated this style of teaching/learning.

sooo, i take it most CRNA programs are not using PBL at all....??

Really?! No lectures? Why not just make the entire degree one big Independent Study Course?

While massive amounts of self-directed study are the norm, no CRNA program I am aware of has taken the PBL step as described above.

thank god. i figured most werent all PBL (from what ive researched), but just trying to find out if any had incorporated it at all into their program. definitely more interested in PBJ's than PBL's..

My program does PBL to supplement the regular lectures. We all had to develop a case and do a presentation in front of the class. It was actually really helpful in reviewing for the SEE exam, it helped to put the pieces together and think critically, especially with stuff we haven't had in lecture for awhile. Most people chose cases they actually did or had experience with.
