Hi all, I have another question. I will be graduating with BSN in May 08 right after I turn 34. My husband is retired from the Navy but does not have a high paying civilian job, we have an 8 yo... Read More

I found this question funny. I found myself looking around the room (with just me in it) saying everyone?....lol.

I will be 39 in Dec. I intend to apply next Aug. and "officially" start the program the next June, I believe, which will (taking off my socks to count this high) I will be 42 or 43 when I graduate.

Remember the story about the 80 year old woman taking Hebrew classes. A fellow classmate asked her what she was doing taking classes at her age, and she looked at the person and plainly said, "It's the only age I have left.".

No matter what AGE you will be when you graduate, you will be that age ANYWAY. Food for thought....yummy snacks all around.
    Best of luck to all!

If I chose CRNA school instead of Law, I'm 22 and 24 before I could even start the program and 27-28 by the time I graduate. Then, onto a Phd program!

Im 36. Start in Jan 08. When I am completed, I will be 38 or 39. I still want kids. Remember 40 is the new 30 these days.
Who cares how old you are, follow your dreams. If you want it - do it. Period. Dont focus on anything else.
Hell, I remember when I was in nursing school, I met this older lady in my class. She was a LPN for years and always wanted to become a RN. She started at 51 and graduated!

Thanks for your post. Sounds like we will be in the same boat. I particularly appreciated your comment about still wanting kids. I have a son who just turned 8 last week. I know I don't want to have another kid before CRNA school, but don't think I will want to start over again when I finish. He will likely be 11 or 12 when I'm done. (Almost done at that point!!) I'm also going thru my OB rotation right now, and I'm glad I didn't know then what I know know (all the things that can go wrong) !!! Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for your perspective.

I agree with everyone else, age is nothing but a number. I have just turned 43 and I plan to apply just as soon as a get at least one year of ICU under my belt. This is the only area that I have not worked full time in throughout my 17yr nursing career. I was planning to go to law school but this is definetly a better fit for me. I live by this quote from Mark Twain " Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowline, sail away from the safe harbor, catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream Discover" I really don't want it to suddenly be 20 years later and I am thinking "what if"

The way retirement/Social Security may be headed, so long as you aren't dead, you're never too old!
