To Zenman, Can I have your email address if you don't mind? I have read many of your posts and I would like to ask you few questions.

Specializes in Nephrology, Cardiology, ER, ICU.

You can PM him very easily.

The website doesn't allow me to PM him directly because I have just joined. Zenman, can you please PM your email address? Thanks.

I PMd him to come take a look. We encourage anonymity on AN.

Not to hijack this thread but I was hoping to get zenmans attention in a thread at some point to ask for some advice. Zenman! I am fairly certain I want to persue pmhnp. I am currently in a 2 year associate degree nursing program, my plan is to attempt to get a job in med surg for around a year, then attempt to get a job in a psych setting for around a year then send out some applications. During my time getting these 2 years experience I would get my bsn online. I just want to get the best experience I can to serve me during my career. What do you think? Also do you see any validity/reason to get a dnp instead of an msn?

hah, I joined up specifically to pm Zenman as well :) Of course I can't pm him just like OP.

I've been in psychiatric nursing for 20 years, am currently in a BSN program now and trying to figure out where to go to school and if I should get a PMHNP vs FNP. i pretty much want to do exactly what he's doing, career-wise. I'm going to move to Hawaii so I can work in under-served, rural communities, have a private office practice, be on-call, etc. Advice from anyone is welcome, but would love to hear from Zenman himself :)

Thanks all, first post here and I'll be digging through all the forums! Todd

Specializes in Emergency.

Zenmen and his merry band of zen-lites..... lol

I personally don't see a reason for DNP unless you think the DNP courses will help with your future goals. DNP won't get you any more money in general.

Zenman, yes I lived there as a kid for about three years - Oahu. Then back in 2012 I worked on Oahu briefly, at Kahi Mohala in Ewa Beach. Four months there. I lived up in Makakilo during that time.
