What tablet should i buy?

I am starting my FNP program (online classes) next week and am trying to decide on a tablet to purchase. I am considering the iPad, galaxy note 10.1, and Microsoft surface pro.

I already own an iPhone and a desktop PC. I am looking to purchase a tablet for ebooks, reviewing power points, and doing light assignments (like posting to online discussion boards). I will use my PC for big writing assignments and PowerPoint presentations.

What is everyone else using and why do you or don't you like it? Thanks!

How can your bluetooth keyboard on your tablet be "faster" than your netbook keyboard? Makes no sense to me. Keyboards aren't fast or slow. They either work or do not work. Bluetooth keyboards do work but have connectivity issues and run on batteries.

Anyway, the issue is that tablets run on mobile OS's instead of the fully featured OS that's on netbooks and surface pro. That's my main reason for suggesting against a tablet. Tablets are for kids or non-techy adults. If you want something you can do work on, whether for school or business, it's much better to have a small laptop since you can run anything you need on it. But to each his own.

My husband is an IT guy who is also going for his RN. He's actually partner in an IT company...he knows his stuff. He's getting his RN...because he can.

So anyway....he would recommend a tablet. Specifically, he would recommend an iPad. I'm not sure about going low on space...I want as much memory as possible because you can't add it on. I have a lot of apps and some take a lot of space. I'll use programs to house other stuff if messed....but I'd go with more memory.

My program has a set of criteria for both tablets and pc's to use with the program, if yours does too, I would suggest finding one that meets their needs as they have a list of programs in mind that you will need to run on them. If not, then the question is what do you want to do with it? Not, just look stuff up, but specifically what programs do you want to run on it? epocrates? uptodate? what else? Make sure they all run on the tablet your wanting to use. Then how do you plan on using it? Do you plan on carrying it while at clinicals? Do you plan on using it as a mini laptop? That will probably help you decide if you want a "mini" (ipad mini or 7" android) vs a full sized one. There really isn't a bad choice if it meets your needs. Good luck!

You can make up for the smaller storage space /hard drive space by using cloud storage programmes, such as Dropbox, Skydrive, and Google Drive.

I am strongly considering an iPad mini for nursing school to use for ebooks. Does anyone have any recommendations on what amount of memory to get? I would like to get 16gb for price but am not sure it will hold 2 yrs of etextbooks and then some. Any recommendations?

It's hard drive space, not memory. Memory is different (RAM)

That said, 16gb is a lot if you're just storing ebooks. That should be plenty

I personally want more storage because of apps and such. You can't add on and being cheap up front can be an issue down the road. Chances are you will use it for other things....even if you say you won't.

You will only be students for 2-3 yrs.

My vote is an iPad mini 4g with a sharkk case. Comes with a keyboard, great enclosed case.

I use mine daily at work, AN and e everywhere.

Last time I checked, a netbook will not fit in your pocket. A small tablet will and that is what we need this for. We need this to carry in our pockets for clinicals.
