South University FNP MSN program???

So did anyone or is anyone currently in the FNP or Adult NP online program at this time? I spoke to an admissions rep and was really impressed. The set up is nice with one course at a time, although was told you can talk to your advisor and sometimes layer your courses here and there as well (like an 11wk course with one 5.5 wk course) which I'd prefer to do to get done faster...since I did my ASN at Excelsior and am finishing my BSN I'm well used to online format courses and have my time down to a science. I was planning on beginning my application process now, so that in December we submit everything with the potential to start the first week of Feb 2014...anyone else??? Any thoughts???

Hi, im interested in South's BSN program. I wanted to know if hospitals hire South graduates??

I start my clinical rotations next month, I am happy with SU. I had one terrorist prof and I dropped the class and started over right away with a different instructor and have a 4.0. Have you passed boards yet? I did my BSN on line and took a board review and NCLEX was not nearly as difficult as I expected.

Hello Guys,

I am back to update you all on my experience so far with SU. FYI, I go to one of the brick and mortar (not on-line)locations here in Michigan. I am currently in patho. I often wondered if the online and onsite program were similar in the structure of their courses. So for those of you who are like me here is what is expected in this course...

we have 3 exams and a comprehensive final

4 quizzes that we take on weeks that we do not have exams

1 evidenced base article to read, summarize and write a 1 page paper

1 group presentation on a disease process

1 case study

of course we have lots of reading and study guide assignments to correlate with the chapters read to help with the quizzes and exams.

We are using the McCance 7th edition patho text.

I am in an online program at South Univ. in the pathopysiology class We have message board postings minimum of three a week, they are typically a page to page and a half each, one case study with a care plan they range 4-6 pages each and a term paper each week on an assigned condition or symptom package. there are no exams. I did my BSN on line as well and find that I learn more in the paper writing classes as I am using multiple sources and not tied to the text. the text books are outdated by the time we get them anyway.

Hi Everyone,

I have applied for the March start date with South University. However I'm a little nervous about the FNP online program because of the bad reviews. Can someone in the program tell me about their experience with classes and professors? Do you have to maintain a B average in every class? Thank you for any help. I have applied to two other schools: Simmons and UT Arlington.

I am starting my first practicum in March, and thus far have enjoyed it. I have not had any bad instructors to date. Yes, the minimum grade to pass is a B.

I work about 30hrs a week (Tues-Fri), I spend most of the day Sat, Sun, and Mon doing assignments and reading. I also have four small kids to work around my school schedule. I will go down to about 16 hours a week when my preceptorship starts. I would say I don't have much free time. You must be dedicated and willing to work hard. You can do it, you just have to be good at time management.
