Gotta love the stories! When I was in the middle school the stories were weird and convoluted, designed to manipulate so they can go home. But in elementary school they're just plain funny. Like today...

**1st grader runs in from the bus." I"m allergic to cats!" breathing okay, no itching or swelling. Okay. Did a cat touch you? "NO, but it walked right beside my bus!" :p

**3rd grader came in with pain in her left side. "It hurts when I laugh." (I kid you not :D) Sooo, don't laugh til you get home, okay? Here, an ice pack will help. And she happily stuffed it under her shirt and skipped off.

**1st grader--"I threw up." Oh? when did that happen? "When I was at the fair(last fall!)" Okay, try some of my cold water...

**4th grader enters smiling. "I have a stomach ache." no fever, ate lunch, drinking water. smiling, talkative. I'm writing a note to his teacher so he can go back to class. Then right behind my head(he must have been breathing down my neck!) I hear"I'm going to throw up!" Ack! Get outta my hair first! He made it to the BR, after which I tore up the teacher note and wrote him a discharge.

**kindergartner--"My tummy hurts." no fever or vomiting. When did your tummy start hurting? "When I saw a chicken". you saw a live chicken? "Uh-huh. on the playground" Did you touch the chicken? "uh-huh." Did the chicken do something? "mumble mumble incoherent" Did it poop in front of you? "(smiles) Nooooo..." Did it flap it's wings? "YES YES. IT STOOD RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AND FLAPPED LIKE THIS(violent flapping breaks out). I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A HEART ATTACK!":clown: Okay, that sounds a little scary. How about some cold water. You can sit in here for a few minutes. 5 min go by"Can I go now?" Sure. "But I need a hug first. And a sticker" Okay. child happily hops down the hall like a bunny.

I just love elementary school!:yeah:

Great post....it reminds why I love my job on a day when I dying of boredom!

Speaking of poodles.....do you have poodles? I have a black standard and I'm dying for another!

I was a school nurse in a small town. Frequently when I was out shopping and such, students treated me like a celebrity..."Look Mom, it's our doctor!" I always corrected my title. Sometimes I was identified as the lice lady. Also the little ones were so thrilled if I knew their names when I encountered them in public...the high schoolers-not so much.

Yes, I have one big black Standard, about 75-lbs. He's 10yrs old now, but you wouldn't know it most days. I give him meloxicam for his arthritis and he gets seizure meds. He has COPD, so he can't run much , but he can still chase the squirrels outta the yard. If I ever get another dog it will be another poodle. They are such great dogs, especially the Standards. Minky is a rather regal old gentleman

I just got the sweetest HUGE heart shaped card, with paper flowers all around it, with a picture of the entire Pre K, from the pre k students and staff. It says "To the Best School Nurse in the World", and is "signed" by all the kids and staff. 'sniff Sometimes, these things make all the frustration SO worth it!
