Creeped out

Our charting system at school has the ability to let staff see the students full school records. I had a student that got in trouble and was visiting me to make sure he was okay after fighting. I wanted to check on his discipline record, so I opened it. BIG MISTAKE!!!

I am now really creeped out and kind of wondering about future things for him.

He got in trouble last year for Taking a female students underpants, and stalking the student. He was about 16, so not a young child.

I tried to just put it away from memory but today I saw him walking with a freshman girl with blond hair like the pervious student he got caught stalking. The boy is now 12th grader and in my opinion a little old to be with this younger girl. Maybe I am just being overbearing? Am I right to have red flags...even so there's really nothing I can do.

I mean, this is creepy but there is a reason they allow you access to disciplinary records...I think you would be well within the boundaries of appropriate school nursing behavior to suggest to counseling staff that he be seen, or to parents that he see a psych. If he has not already. Were the police involved in any of his previous offenses at school?

You are right to have red flags. This makes my skin crawl just reading it.

I would feel like it's a red flag issue too. Are you close with your school counselor? Maybe let them know what you saw.

I'm not allowed to see the discipline records for students for "privacy reasons" but I wish I could. I see so many students for more behavioral issues (even though they come down with a medical excuse) and it would be nice to just have a little background on what's going on.
