Confidential Lists

I currently use Sharepoint.....For those who have an "In House" bulletin board (only access is to employees via password) do you post a list of students who have significant allergies and are identified as needing an Epi Pen?

Clearly we need to be very careful re confidentiality- HIPAA and FERPA but I feel like I have spent the month of September printing schedules and notifying teachers of those kids. And who is to say they won't have an allergic reaction somewhere else in the building.....

I am in HS so we do not do the Team (grade level based) approach like middle school. And we are on Trimesters so I need to redo the info 3x yearly......If anyone has any suggestions on an easier way to disseminate necessary info, I would be forever in their debt!!!

Medical alerts are imbedded in our computer programming that manages grades, class lists, attendance, immunizations, etc. We use PowerSchool but I know there are others also. Maybe there is a place in your softwear that you are currently not using? It's the teachers responsibility to print out the medical alerts for their classes and keep a list in their sub folder. Then I send a reminder email only for the most very critical things. Good luck with finding a better system!

Hmmm we use MMS (Modular Mgt System) and there is a health history area....I need to do some research and see if that can be utilized to inform the teachers without me having to do it.... over and over and over.....Im always afraid I will miss one.....thx much!!!

i am trying to implement the same thing here in my new school. it looks like our software has the ability to put an indicator next to the student's names in oncourse, but my program won't actually make it work. called tech support last week, will call again today.

Oncourse works well for the teachers and office staff, but their health module stinks! I use healthoffce anywhere as my medical software with the thought of doing double work(gasp! but it's my choice to do so in this case) and putting the health alerts in both programs.

and Flare, you get to to that in your spare time I bet!!! Thx!

We came to consensus to make a list listed by groups of issues (diabetes, epi pen etc) on our common internal bullentin board....Password protected and probably more secure than what teachers and or I printed and kept for their reference. I will also ask them, to email me that they read the info.....gives them some ownership.
