Is it hard to get a job with an Associates degree in Nursing?

As a single parent and a second career person, I got my ADN first and do plan on going back for my BSN (with my employer's tuition reimbursement program). It makes better financial sense for my situation and I am not sorry for choosing this path.

As for the ADN-BSN debate, I respectfully disagree with the posters who state that BSN graduates pull ahead in any type of skill. What they don't figure into the equation is life experience, which DOES have impact on life and nursing skills.

That being said, I do plan on advancing my degree level as I do think it opens more opportunities for advancement in nursing, as it does in any field of work.

Good luck OP!

Great post!!A++++, would read again.

Hi everyone...I just passed my boards and now getting ready for the job hunt. I would like some advice before I send out my resume...I am currently scheduled to take an ACLS class and IV therapy class and I wanted to know if there were any other classes I should take to add to my resume. Any suggestions or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Suggest you post this on the Job Hunt or First Year of Practice fora. Lots of threads on these issues. Lots.

Ok thank you so much but can you help me out as to how to find those forums? Im having a hard time navigating this site, thank you for your help.

Go to the yellow bar at the top of the page. Click in General Nursing, then look at all the different fora listed. You'll see them.

Going back to that main AllNurses page, you can also click on Students, for many different fora of interest to students of many different types, or Specialties, with fora for many different nursing specialties, or US, for different state fora... You could spend days.

Have fun!

Thank you very much!
