If I recall there's some kind of a luncheon that few of us will actually be able to attend. They'll throw up some banners that we can look at as we get written up for whatever infraction of the day we broke because we worked short yet again.

That was what they used to do at the hospital where I worked. They'd post banners filled with photos of all of us and our names, ranks, and number of years' experience, then they'd host a fancy luncheon that in actuality only the managers and resource nurses could attend (while the rest of us were busting our buns taking care of patients). Oh, yeah, they'd let us go upstairs in shifts to pick up our complimentary carnations and a piece of cake left over from the luncheon..........egad, what a joke.
Now I work for a company that doesn't recognize Nurses' Week at all, but treats me decently during the entire year. Gee, which do you think most nurses would choose given the chance?
