I've recently been exposed to latuda (lurasidone), an atypical antipsychotic which is allegedly safe to use with pregnant Patients. Anybody else have any experience with this relatively new medication?

Just starting to see it with the adolescents unsure of my opinion at this early stage.

Have seen it on my unit only once so far, but have been hearing more about it and expect we will be using it more soon. Drug reps are out in full force  as usual... It's supposed to have fewer metabolic side effects than other antipsychotics, for one thing.

It has to be taken with food for proper absorption. That's about all I know.

It was fairly new at my last facility...I've seen it used in a few patients, but I can't say it made a drastic change in them yet. I guess time will tell.

The inpatient unit is using it a bit. The biggest problem I am seeing with it is the expense, they cant afford it, and thus, noncompliant.
