Will all of the Hoops I Seem to be Jumping Through Pay off Once I'm a Nurse

It sure seems like I have pushed so much to do good in all my classes. I just hope it is all worth it. Now I just have to find a good program to get accepted into that is Good and not crazy expensive. I have heard Arizonia is an easier state to get accepted into many of their programs. Im near Chicago now. I dont have all perfect A's.

There really are a ton of hoops but I know it'll pay off in the end especially if you're willing to move. I live in Arizona and yes the community colleges nursing programs are fairly "easy" to get into as you only need ap1, ap2, microbio, English 101 and maybe a few other easy ones with a C only. However it's a wait list which right now is looking at 2-4 years depending on when you get called in the lottery. That is long! I'd look elsewhere if you don't want to wait, like small towns across the US. I know someone who moved to Florida for rn school so maybe there too?!

It is alot to do as far as pre reqs but if you look at the big picture and your end goal it does help to minimize those mountains to molehills. If you are young you have far less pre reqs than us older students who have been out of school a while. Took me three years of part time and sometimes full time courses to get all my pre reqs done, but I finally did and I start the ADN program in August. Hang in there, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

I think there has been a misconception on what it takes to complete a nursing program for many years...even decades. Nursing education is NOT like any other typical degree. It is intense, and it has to be in terms of what you learn in your prerequisites is your foundation to your nursing education.

As far as entering a nursing program, it depends in what the school is looking for in terms of criteria. Some look for grades, some look for the "total package"....either way, cast your net wide, keep working hard in your classes...that work ethic you will need for school transpires for nursing school and beyond. You may want to check out New Mexico also. I couldn't believe it when I saw that UNM was advertising on TV for applicants to their BSN program!! I asked some informed folks and they told me that enrollments are very low for all nursing programs in the state - have no idea why, but that seems to be the case in NM.
