UTA pre-nursing courses

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello!

UT Austin did not take me in :(

so I will enroll in UTA this coming Fall! ( I am still excited!XD)

Before I apply to nursing school of UTA,

I need to take 4 more courses.

1. technical writing

2. Introduction to professional nursing

3. Pharm

4. Pathophysiology.

I am planning to take 2 courses for each semester ( fall and spring)

which 2 courses would be the smartest decision to take for each semester?

And could anyone explain how Pharm and Pathophysiology classes are?

because when I had advice from my nursing program advisor,

she did not recommend me to take patho and pharm in the same semester

she even recommended me to take one of courses during summer, but I couldn't

because I had to take microbiology in ACC

Could anyone give me any advice? your advice would help me a lot for my new university life!

Thank you in advance! :)

Hi,

I'm currently taking my prereqs at UTA and just finished Technical Writing. It is only a 5 week course and I would say it was fairly easy and I'm not a writer by any means. I have not take the other courses you mentioned, but you definitely can take one of them along with the writing course.

Hello, Cobbigirl!

Thank you for your comment!

Yes, I already talked to my nursing advisor.

A nursing advisor told me that I need to take one elective course for upper division class in UTA ----only.

(I did not know I have to take an elective course for upper division until my advisor told me )

She recommended me that most students take BIOL 3309 for their elective class, so I will take BIOL 3309 in spring

So I will take pathophysiology, writing, and introduction to nursing all together (Fall)

and then take Pharm and elective course in the spring.

I think this is pretty good schedule for my first year of UTA.

I am very excited to start my school at UTA this coming Fall lol

by the way, are Techwriting class professor helpful to students? Do they engage with students enough?

Yes, the professor was very helpful and UTA uses academic coaches to assist with student questions, grading papers and etc.
