Tips for Tidewater Community College? Hoping to Apply in the Spring!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I am looking to see if anyone has any advice, tips, help, or pointers for the Tidewater CC RN program? I am looking at several schools that I can apply to and this is one of them! They do not seem to have as many pre-reqs as TNCC which is a plus! I already have two degrees and do not want to have to take any extra classes if I don't need them! Has anyone attended their program? Applied before? Any information would be great! I am going to an information session soon on campus but wanted to see if there were any student perspectives out there!

We're glad you will be attending an info session. Here are recent profiles of TCC nursing program graduates:

+ Meg Simmons (Fall Commencement 2014)

+ Debra Hazlett (Fall Commencement 2013)

+ Alicia Cooper (Alicia Cooper)

We look forward to welcoming you at TCC!

I am almost done with my pre-reqs-I am applying for the 2017 night and weekend ----I have been trying my hardest to keep getting A's---I haven't taken the HESI yet, hopefully after I take A&P II this fall I will take it before mircobiology in the spring.

Awesome! Are you applying to the night and weekend cohort so you can work during the day? I am trying to figure out what I can do during school to make some money and help my husband pay the bills! That is definitely stressing me out! I am also going to take AP II in the fall online.

yes thats my plan is to apply to the night and weekend cohort. good luck to you!

I heard a rumor that they are changing the GPA from 2.5 to 3.5 to be qualified, but I haven't seen any updates to the website

I am going to the info session soon, so I will see what they say and post back!

hi,which school do u take your pre-reqs class? FT or PT?,

I will prepare to take CNA class then get PT pre-reqs class, but i don't know does it work??

I am not sure what FT and PT refer to... Also, I am not taking the CNA route so I am not sure about that. I am taking my pre-requisites online at a different school.

I went to the information session on July 15th, and you must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 for courses in the nursing program's curriculum of study. They're NOT changing the GPA minimum to 3.5 ;)

thanks for that update!! some of the rumors you hear, lol

Yes, the info session confirmed a 2.5 GPA is all you need. Thank goodness or a lot of people would not be able to apply if they required a 3.5 GPA! Lots of people were there, and it was only one info session out of 10 in a year I think. It's definitely going to be competitive!

It sure will be. I'm a little nervous, but staying hopeful! I hope that we all make it in! Good luck everyone! ♡
