Teas V - feedback appreciated

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi everyone:

I'm gearing up to take the new TEAS exam version 5. Just wondering for those that have taken it, is it fairly similar to the study guide? I've noticed that the Math section especially is shorter than the TEAS version IV. I just don't want to set myself up for expecting less, when in actuality there's probably more or the same.

Any feedback is appreciated!

Thank you!

That's actually a good question, sorry I didn't clarify. There are 170 questions and 20 of those do not count as your final grade. That may seem like a good thing, but really it doesn't mean anything really to you. They choose which of the twenty don't count. They do not inform you of which ones don't count... so it will always be a mystery to you. The reason why they have 20 extra questions is because they want to see if those questions are worthy on actually being counted on future tests. So the extra 20 questions are only for their benefit.

I wish that we could mess up on 20 questions and it wouldn't count. ;)

(I am not yet familiar with TEAS--doesn't apply to me yet, but I lurk to absorb info about it.)

In other qualifying tests I have taken, 150 questions, say, comprise the actual test; and 20 questions, say, are proto-questions for upcoming exams, or tryout questions, or perhaps questions to help validate the test, or there for some similar, not defined, purpose.

But, they don't tell you which of the 170 are the 20 tryouts.

Dunno if this is what goes on with TEAS, but that would be my guess.

Thanks FutreRN, guess I won't bother with studying any geometry then.

I took the Teas V yesterday and had one question pertaining to perimeter...

So if there are 170 questions you can miss up to 20 because 150 questions only count? haha sorry i'm confused and know this questions is dumb!

Yes. There are 20 non graded questions on the test that they use for reference. They do this on most all standardized exams for "research purposes". LOL I've run into this quite a few times.
