Hello everyone!

This Summer I am heavily considering taking anatomy & physiology 2, microbiology, and biology. 2 courses will be 12 weeks, 1 course will be 6 weeks. I will take the lectures online and the labs in a 6 week session.

I will also be interning 10-12 hours a week at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, but this will not be the whole summer.

The professors I will be taking have high overall ratings, and low difficulty ratings. They even give students multiple attempts on exams and quizzes + extra credit

The reason I want to do this is because I want to apply to a nursing Program in the fall with hopes to start in Spring 2019.

Is it do-able? Or should I slow down the process.

Keep in mind that one six-week course is going to be twice as much work as a regular class during that time period, so you'd have six weeks of (what would feel like) FOUR courses. Plus a full day of work in there it seems like. I fully understand wanting to get your pre-reqs done as fast as possible, but is it worth risking your grades to get started one semester sooner?

Also, I don't know where you are applying, but at my school we were able to petition for the nursing program with classes in-progress. So if you are hoping to start in spring, couldn't you still take some classes in summer AND fall?

I would do micro and biology in the Summer and A&P in the Fall. A&P is the foundation of your learning and cramming it into a Summer course along with two other science courses seems like too much. I would also ask the school if you could apply with a course in progress as the previous poster mentioned. That is a great idea. Otherwise, just wait another semester. I took physiology in the summer and I regret it because I didn't feel like I learned as much as I would have in a full term

I'm taking A&P and will take micro while in nursing school. It's tough but not terrible, whereas I think 3 sciences in a summer would be awful! Are they all pre-reqs for sure? If so you have to make sure to get great grades on all of them to be accepted, which seems like it would be pretty hard to do. I voted for 1 or 2 classes in the summer, so you can do as well as possible on them, and internalize the material better.

Yup, same here!:(

A&P cannot be crammed!

Also, not sure what your school was like, but when I was in grade school we covered a lot of the material that the biology course covers... multiple times. So, I found college bio to be repeat of all that stuff I'd already learned. My vote is take BIO in the summer.

If you absolutely must take two courses, take Micro as well, but I think you're biting off a lot already...
