South Dakota State University ABSN

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi,

I am interested in applying to the South Dakota State University ABSN program. However, whenever I google the program, the only thing that comes up are some advertising sites, the school site, accreditation sites, and one or two general ranking websites (i.e. U.S. News). When I search this forum, the program barely comes up, compared to other ABSN programs that get a lot of posts (which seems a little alarming). The program seems reputable based on its ranking (top 100 in U.S. News) and accreditation. But, I wanted to hear from people that have gone through their nursing program or are from the area. I also want to hear from nurses from other states. What do you think my chances would be of getting a nursing career in another state (i.e. Texas), especially in a competitive field? Many of you might say go to a program, in the state where you want to work. But, this program is one of the few affordable programs for ABSN programs.

Specializes in Prior military RN/current ICU RN..

Contact the University. ND and SD are good states to work as the quality of life is good and the Cost of living in lower.

I earned my BSN in Virginia, but tool the NCLEX in Nebraska. It makes no difference.

ABSN anywhere is fine as long as it is accredited and you get a good GPA. If you plan to go to grad school the GPA is HUGE.
