So many nursing majors in my class!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hey everyone! I'm taking my prereqs, and in my sociology class, every single person in the class is majoring in nursing. There are 32 of us. Is this seriously what its like? I read things on here constantly about the field being flooded... Is it really this bad?! I've been told many of these people will end up not making it or changing their minds, but its freaking me out a little bit.

Have you experienced anything like this?

It's also a cop out and a bit of sour grapes for people who don't have the grades/test scores to get in and are simply trying to detract from the accomplishments of those who do. If it's really your calling or passion, that should be evidenced in your grades, no? Then you have nothing to worry about!

You know what though? Even though some of those people may take our spots in the nursing program all because they wanted the nursing paycheck, they are the ones who will be unhappy in the end....wait till the first time they have to wipe an ass or get puked on...it will wear them down eventually. If you don't have the heart for it...you will not last. You may stick with it...but you won't be happy!

Ok so if I ask you nicely, will you please go away? There is probably no one, on any thread anywhere interested in your nasty uncalled for BS. How do you even have time to sit around and pick arguments on the Internet? Maybe take up journaling?

Yeah that is why he has 19 likes and you have none....

He didn't agree with you so you insult him? You would consider me as going into nursing "just for the money" because I too think of it as a job and not a "calling", but guess what? I pulled straights A's while going full time, I didn't need to take A&P separate to make sure that I got an A in it, and graduated valedictorian of the nursing class. Tell me how those that I took a spot from who "thought it was a calling" were more deserving than me?

It is obvious that you are worried about being rejected from nursing school so you insult everyone that does not fit into you idea of what a nurse should be. What makes your idea correct? Who says that those that do not consider nursing a "calling" will be unhappy in the end? You are just making assumptions to try to prove your point and when you can't prove your point you insult people and try to say that they are obviously "bad" nurses. Get over yourselves.... You don't deserve a spot that someone else gets if they clearly scored better grades than you and showed more understanding than you just because it is your "calling". If nursing is truly someones calling you would think that they would not struggle with the material so much (not saying the OP but in general)?

When you start a thread or make a post, you are going to get replies; some you'll like, some you won't. You can't demand that someone not post on your thread, unless that person has violated the TOS. In that case, you can report the post to the Mod Squad and let them decide if the post is inappropriate.

Don't let your anxiety about getting into a nursing program make you become bitter and angry. You're going to find all sorts of situations that aren't as you think they should be. You need to learn how to handle differences without becoming hostile, otherwise, you'll be very unhappy nurse/whatever career.

Same here. I'm taking gen eds at a community college, and there are a LOT of BSN programs near here, so I think that helps. My anatomy teacher went around the room asking everyone's major and plan and 99% of the pre-nursing students said they hoped to transfer to the same school... no one said the school that I hope to transfer to, so that gave me hope.
