Question on GPA

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I've been out of hs for 15 years. My GPA in hs was 2.97, not the best but I did alot of goofing off. The school I am applying to uses a points allocation based on TEAS test score, A&P 1 grade, county of residencey, and GPA HS/Ged. I've got the points for county of residence. I'm banking on my scores for teas test which I will test for in June and my AP class which I take in the fall. Do you guys think that my hs GPA will hurt my chances of getting in?

To me, it's just odd that they are even using your high school GPA at all. The programs I am familiar with base their decision on GPA in college pre-req classes, usually about 8-10 classes in all. Maybe find out from the school what the average GPA is for people applying. That would be helpful in determining if your HS GPA is sufficient.
