Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi guys i live in Queens NY and im currently taking my prereqs at queens borough community college. Im not too certain if ill get into their program since its so competitive. Do you guys have any other suggestions that i can apply to. I was thinking about applying to qcc, beth israel, and laguardia. Anywhere else?

touro in Brooklyn is another associate degree program. they have about 35 this year in their first level. BI is a good choice but is also competitive. they receive about 900 applicants per year for 150 spots, on average. if you have any q's about BI i might be able to help you.

All of the cuny colleges and private colleges are competitive. If possible try and take the pre req courses one at a time to better your chances of getting a good grade. You also have to take the nln entrance exam and get a good score. I go to Laguardia and the cut Off for RN program is around 3.8 Our Lpn is around 3.4

Yes and sometimes even a 3.8 get rejected because some people have a 3.84 or 3.86 you get what I'm saying? Nursing is a very competitive major, seems like everyone is interested in nursing.

Ouch i dont think ill make the cut then. I didnt realize laguardia took chemistry as a pre req. Most places i looked at, they look at your psych, english, ap1, and sociology. Do you know anything about schools being nationally credited or not?

i'm actually in my last semester before my capstone course. its in manhattan, chelsea area. its a great school, the faculty are excellent come from many dif areas of nursing. its a adn program affiliated with PACE university. science and liberal art credits come through them. you can actually come in with 0 prior credits to the program. (if thats done they usually recommend the 3 year track-1 year of arts and sciences the 2 years of nursing). for applying, they want NLN scores if i recall correctly above 55th percentile, and gpa above 2.7 i believe. i came in with a 98th percentile NLN and GPA over 3.7 from HS (if not higher). they do have interviews-not all schools do. good news is if you do get an interview, its looking good. when you apply an entire committee looks at your portfolio and personal essay. there are some other requirements-like HS level chem, bio, math or one semester of college level of each. the website is Phillips Beth Israel School of Nursing:.

Has anyone took a good and reasonable on-line RN to BSN program?

i'm currently at qcc doing pre-reqs. so far the 4 courses that qcc looks at is sociology, ap1, english and psych. i have a A,B,A-,C respectively making my gpa a 3.2 ish. Do you think thats enough to get in? How was the nln exam? Thanks for the help so far

your welcome. glad i can share

so i'll start with the NLN. its like the sat but also has sciences-basic bio, chem, physics, might of been some earth science too. math, reading comprehension, grammar etc.. i studied from the NLN book, "the review guide for the RN pre-entrance exam". i studied that for 2 months in advance. some places require the TEAS though. taking the nln was stressful because the time for each section is limited. some ppl have suggested getting a book on test strategy skills to help with that. others say take refresher courses or the like if you need help with certain areas. i heard the regent exam books are also good. don't know if that's true; i did not take regents

so all the courses you already took are ones required for BI as co-reqs. some i took at BI through pace, some i transferred in from HS AP classes and others i clepped. some students take every thing elsewhere and just do the nursing in BI (A&P I and II and Micro are all taught by the same prof and is very challenging). your GPA is good but bi doesn't look at only that which is beneficial. they believe in looking at the whole person applying not just the academics.
