Nursing school applications

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello, everyone. I am currently a pre-nursing student at Miami Dade college and have already began applying to Nursing schools, since I will be awarded my AA in pre-nursing this spring 2017 semester.

Unfortunately, I am re-taking Anatomy&Physiology 2 this semester (and other courses as well) and will be taking Microbiology (last pre-req course) during this summer of 2017.

The fact that I am repeating that course and that I haven't completed my pre-reqs along with my AA has set me back so much. FIU wont accept me because I have to have all courses completed and they only admit in the fall, Nova does not do grade forgiveness, and Barry neither. Chamberlain University is an hour away from home and way too expensive as well.

Right now my only hope is completing an ASN at Miami Dade college to then complete my BSN. I have had so many setbacks that my dream of becoming a Nurse and completing my BSN is starting to fade.

Does anyone have any tips? Has anyone experienced something similar? If so, what did you do?

I can't say that I have been through a similar situation, but if you read a lot of the posts on here there are many people who are working their way through the process with some pretty difficult circumstances.

I am almost 32 and have decided to begin the long journey to get my BSN just last semester. I have to keep working full time so it feels like I'm crawling my way through my prerequisites at turtle speed...

You've come a long way and have accomplished a lot so far, don't lose heart now. Just take it one day and one good decision at a time and you will get there.

Thank you for your words of encouragement and congrats on making the decision to obtain your BSN. Although you may feel you're going "turtle speed", it is more important to finish strong than to finish fast- I'm suffering the consequences for that now. Good luck and best of wishes on your endeavours!

You will make it with diligence and discipline as many before you have. And don't worry nursing isn't going anywhere. I'm glad to hear that you are aware of the for-profit come-on. They do nothing but offer debt nightmares wrapped in a student's earnest desire to help people and help themselves be healthy and productive members of society.
