Nursing career?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I graduate high school this month and plan to start my nursing prerequisites this fall! It will take 2 years to finish them all. I plan to go to Covenant school of nursing to get my RN BSN and after that hopefully get my MSN and eventually become a nurse practitioner. That's always been my dream and I'm finally about to start making it reality! I'm just really scared I'm not good enough to be a nurse.. I'm not sure I'll be a good nurse? My mom is only a LVN and ever since I was a little girl I've loved going to work with her and just seeing all the nurses at the hospital. I really want this but I'm scared I'll fail. I'm scared I'll fail all my prerequisites and won't even be accepted into nursing school! And if I am accepted what if I fail out of that and I wasted 2 years getting the prerequisites? I really need some advice.. I'm scared and if I'm already thinking negative about this then that can't be good? ): Thanks

I'm 30 and will be starting nursing school this fall. This is my second career, or third (if you count being a stay at home mom). All I can say is this, take it one day at a time, keep your eyes on the prize, and let your failures build character in you but not define you. Set goals; small ones (for example: I'll study 1 hour every day), medium ones (ex: volunteer at a hospital), big ones (ex: getting accepted into a nursing program)

Good luck!

Whoa, you are getting way ahead of yourself! Sign up for pre reqs & study hard. Give it your all. Nursing is a difficult thing to study because it requires so much time. But if you are really dedicated, understand the material & truly want this, you will make it. Instead of thinking "what if I fail" think of "when I make it". Be an optimistic realist.
