Noticing students failing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hey guys,

I'm in my junior year of a BSN program and today was the first day of spring semester. I noticed at least 6 girls were missing in class and most likely failed last semester. My class is noticeably smaller and I'm just wondering if this is normal for your class and will the class continue to get smaller and smaller? I just don't want to be next! Btw, my class started with around 100 girls and I think we might be around 70-60 students now.

We started out with 50 students and now we are down to 45! Some students choose to discontinue nursing school not because they failed but rather it dawned on them that this might not be what they want to end up doing. And yes others have indeed failed. It is something that lingers in the mind, definitely but study smart and you will have less to worry about :=)

Everyone has their reasons for not making it. We've only had one fail out, and that was first semester (we're a small class- started with 24). If you're doing okay, don't stress. Focus on being great!

We started with 64. One quit the first week, saying this wasn't for her. 1 quit due to family illness and 2 failed out. They were replaced this semester by 4 students who were a semester ahead who just barely failed the final exam and ended up getting less than 0.5% away from a passing grade. Hopefully, we'll all stay together to the end. The semester ahead of us lost 10 students d/t med math or not passing physical assessment.

We're now divided into groups of 32. They'll regroup us each semester until we're done. I kinda wish we could stay in our current group. I love my clinical group!!!

The semester ahead of us lost 10 students also!! It's so scary and I don't know what I would do with my life if I failed but I'm not going to let that happen >.

It's pretty common in college for people to switch majors or drop out, period. Considering that nursing is more of a beast than most majors, it's kind of surprising that more don't drop.

Keep up the good work and you'll be fine. It's not like they're choosing random students to kick off the boat. No reason to be scared.

We started with 45. It's second semester & we are down to 41. At this rate, we will graduate with 33. So far, 2 of those 4 failed. The other 2 decided that nursing was not for them.

Keep your eyes on the prize rather than the other students or lack of students (due to whatever reasons).
