N.e.t. Prep

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Anyone got any recommendations on a really good net prep? I am just concerned since it has been almost 17 yrs since I had a math class. I am looking for the best most efficient way to review.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks.

apnea,

looking at my net test student report, it has these various subjects on it:

learning style- figuring out which best suits you

math- algebra equations

decimal operations

fraction operations

number system conversions

percentage operations

reading/critical thinking- rate per minute

inferential thinking

main idea

prediction of outcomes

writing- capitalization

pronoun case and principle parts of irregular verbs

punctuation

sentence structure

standard usage of pronouns

spelling

subject and verb agreement

science- a&p

biology

cellular biology

chemistry

testtaking skills

stress level profile

it really wasn't bad. i went in with little preparation since i had taken it before. i figured that if i was able to pass the original one they had, and they were using the wrong version, the correct version has to be easier since they were upping the pass rate to the original 60% (they had lowered it to 45% for the reading since everybody was failing it.) it really is just basic reading and math.

hope this helps you out!!

what was the cell bio part like? stuff like "this is a ribosome, this is what it does?"

batman,

yes, the net does have science on it! the first time i took the test (had to retake as my school had the wrong version) i missed every science question on there but 1. i too, was so surprised they were on there, but the net guide mentioned nothing about science (at least from what i can remember!!) there are anatomy and physiology, biology, cellular biology, and chemistry questions that you will have to answer, plus a testtaking skills section. there aren't many, except for the testtaking skills, but it is nice to know beforehand that they are there!!! i did so much better the second time around, knowing that they were there!! all except for testtaking!!! that one i still made above the north american average, but it was low!!! :uhoh3:

thanks for the info!! i can see where you had trouble with the science the first time around as the book doesn't even mention it. that stinks!! what good is the study guide if it doesn't have everything in it we need to study. grrrr....

what book did you use to study for the science part the second time around?! does the science portion count towards the actual score or is it part that is just for evaluation and used to torture us?! lol thanks!!

hey apnea and batman,

the science part...let's see...

first off, to answer batman's question about studying the science: i never did actually have anything to study for the science parts. i just had finished all of my sciences except for chemistry, which is the part that i made the lowest score on and the class that i had just started, and knew the answers that they asked!! i think i lucked out!!! :lol2: at my school, they didn't use the science portion for actual points (we get points towards admission on the math and reading portion.) after my first test, though, i had to wonder if they would reject someone based on getting all the answers wrong on that part!!! :uhoh3: i was really relieved to have made what i did on the second test!! so, like i said, my school didn't use the science, but some schools might. it depends on that particular school.

apnea, in answer to your question, there were some things that asked about the cell, about dna, the membrane, typical a&p and micro questions actually. if you know your a&p and micro, then you should be just fine on that part. like i said above, i was just starting chemistry and never took it in hs, so i was totally lost in it. but now i could pull off a good grade on that part with no problem!!

hope this helps y'all!!

thank you thank you thank you !!

i'm putting it off till after summer semester though...i'm kind of nervous about what i've gotten myself into with 12 credit hours in 8 weeks so basically i'm just going to put it off until summer/fall break. my school's app doesn't look like they care about the science parts, just the math and the reading. but we'll see when it happens ;)

Hey apnea,

You are very welcome!! Yeah, I think you need to stay focused on the 12 classes that you have!! There is time for the NET after that is done!! It really isn't bad, so no worries!!
