Is US nursing degree valid in Europe?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello,

I'm a student from Spain and i would like to get my nursing degree in the States. After i'm done, if i come back to Europe, is that degree valid there?

Thanks

So I haven't done TONS of research on this, but once upon a time I did take a peek at the foreign nurse requirements for the UK and Ireland. It seems that nurses educated/licensed in the EU are generally able to work in all EU countries, but nurses educated/licensed outside of the EU have to go through a pretty lengthy application process that varies from country to country.

Just curious, why do you want to come to US to get your RN and then go back to Europe to work as one? Is the RN program more expensive there than it is here in the states? I thought education in Europe was better and much cheaper.

Nice try. Where is your evidence that the NURSING education is better?

Nice try you too. I did not say nursing education. I said "education" as in general.

But we are talking about NURSING education not general ed so why even bring it up as a deciding factor?

Why would you want to spend so much money coming to the states for an education when the education in Europe is practically free?

Thank you! I made a similar point earlier.

That part I can't argue with. It was the "better" part that I took umbrage with because it simply isn't true. At the same time I'm not saying US education is superior. You just can't make blanket statements and try to back them up with un-related, non-scientific fluff articles. It definitely won't fly in nursing school.
