I was just accepted to Atlanta Tech College...should I..?

I've been waiting to get in to a nursing school for a while now, and today, I've received a phone call from ATC and was accepted in their ASN program...

But I know that their program isn't accredited..

What should I do? Should I just go ahead and get in the program, or try applying to more colleges?

Would I be able to get a decent nursing job after graduating from this program?

I need advice...

I'd say do not go there. I am not a lawyer nor do I know much about it, but common says dictates if you go to school that was not given the "green light" to educate, then it is rather a red flag. Let's say you do graduate from this school, you still have to pass the boards, and, I am sure, you will not be allowed to do so as a graduate of an unaccredited school. All I can say is before you do decide to attend this school please, do your research!!!!

Thank you for your reply!! I just found out that ATC nursing is SACS accredited and approved by the GA Board of Nursing. And the website indicates that I will be able to take my NCLEX... So it isn't nationally accredited but regionally.

I've also spoken with the program director today, and she said that I'll be able to continue my education through Georgia State University and Clayton State University just like her other students from the past....

This obviously makes me feel a lot better now......but my question is...after graduating with Associates from this school and get into one of those nationally accredited school to finish BS? Would I still face obstacles in the future?

Ok, that is good to hear! So, is your question about if you will be able to get your RN-to-BSN at a university? I think you should be able to. However, in terms of obstacles, I do not really know what you mean. If by obstacles you mean finding a job, there is no way of predicting what the job market will be in your area.

What I really wanted to know was that once I finish my BS at a nationally accredited program, would I still have to worry about not being able to work at a government related hospitals and in another state other than GA.. since my first two years of study will be done at ATC-a regionally accredited school.

Did you end up attending ATC? If so, do you regret it? I just finished my prerequisites there.
