I need reassurance that a 50 year old has a chance of getting into nursing school!!

I am a 50 year old mother of a son entering law school and another starting college. I have just finished up all of my pre-reqs other than microbiology which I am taking this semester. I have applied to St. Luke's School of Nursing for Sept. 2011 admittance and a first deadline of February 1, 2011. I have a 3.37 GPA and am taking my ATI Critical Thinking exam next week. Although St. Luke's has no GPA requirements, they do look for grades no lower than a C. My lowest grade is a C+ in A&PII. All my other grades are B+ and up. I am so nervous that that C+ will ruin my admission chances. I am also afraid that my age will also be a strike against me. I have applied to volunteer at St. Luke's as a nurses ass't for as long as I can and will make the admissions committee aware of this. Why am I so nervous?? I feel that if I don't get in on the first deadline in Feb. or for the second deadline in June, I am out of luck! Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

The school can't discriminate based on age, whether or not you get accepted will be based on merit.

You go girl....see it and you will be it:nurse: I am 48, will be 49 in March, and I'm waiting to hear from a few schools that I have applied to...going for my adn, then bsn, ending with my masters in nursing, who knows maybe I'll continue on to become a nurse practitioneroal..my ultimate goal is to be teaching at a school for nursing in ten years! As long as your healthy, of sound mind and body....hahaha...you WILL do great! Good Luck......

I have wanted this for so long, but life temporarily took me off path. Aside from a few aches and pains, I think I would make a much better nurse now than I would have 30 years ago! It's just the waiting that's killing me!
