Where do you sit in lecture
I start class tomorrow but already know where I am going to sit...front and center!! Mostly because class is held in a lecture room and there would be no room for my bookbag if I sat with rows in front of me. Second, because I'm easily distracted and would be watching what everyone in front of me is doing rather than concentrating and focusing on my instructor!

Older Nursing students
I am 51 and starting my first day of nursing school tomorrow!! I started my pre-reqs when my younger son was a sophomore in high school giving myself 3 years to complete and be an "empty-nester" when starting nursing school. After much blood, sweat and tears I did it!! I should be graduating as an RN at the age of 53 and don't plan to stop there!

I need reassurance that a 50 year old has a chance of getting into nursing school!!
Thanks so much everyone....I feel better already!! I have wanted this for so long, but life temporarily took me off path. Aside from a few aches and pains, I think I would make a much better nurse now than I would have 30 years ago! It's just the waiting that's killing me!

I need reassurance that a 50 year old has a chance of getting into nursing school!!
I am a 50 year old mother of a son entering law school and another starting college. I have just finished up all of my pre-reqs other than microbiology which I am taking this semester. I have applied to St. Luke's School of Nursing for Sept. 2011 admittance and a first deadline of February 1, 2011. I have a 3.37 GPA and am taking my ATI Critical Thinking exam next week. Although St. Luke's has no GPA requirements, they do look for grades no lower than a C. My lowest grade is a C+ in A&PII. All my other grades are B+ and up. I am so nervous that that C+ will ruin my admission chances. I am also afraid that my age will also be a strike against me. I have applied to volunteer at St. Luke's as a nurses ass't for as long as I can and will make the admissions committee aware of this. Why am I so nervous?? I feel that if I don't get in on the first deadline in Feb. or for the second deadline in June, I am out of luck! Any words of encouragement would be greatly appreciated!

St.Luke's Nursing School
I was just wondering if anyone has any info on St. Luke's School of Nursing in Bethlehem. I am currently doing my pre-reqs at Northampton CC and was wondering about applying to NS at St. Luke's. Any info would be helpful.

Assessment Test to get in for Pre Reqs
I'm in PA...and I'm sure glad I found someone in the same boat! I was starting to think I was all alone. This semester is when I'll be starting with only 2 classes, Pre-Algebra and English 101. I started slow to get my feet wet and get used to being in the classroom again. I plan to take more classes next semester because if I continue with only 2, I'll never finish!! I still have to take a Bio and Chem class before I get to the Bio and Chem pre-reqs. I figure that it's better that I take those brush-up classes and Ace the pre-reqs than jump right in and get C's. I don't know if I'm thiinking right or not, but at least it's a plan. Good luck to you....I'm sure we'll both do great!

Assessment Test to get in for Pre Reqs
I have been out of school for 31 years and have finally made the decision to pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse at the age of 48. After taking my placement tests in English and Math, I scored a 95 in English and a 34 in Algebra. Needless to say, before I can even take a pre-req in Algebra, I need to take a semester of Pre-Algebra (which I'll be starting in 2 weeks), along with a semester each of Elementary Algebra and Intermediate Algebra. That's 3 semesters of algebra before I even get to the pre-reqs!! Ugh!! I have always had a problem with math and now I can't believe I have to take 2 years of it. But it can be done....and it's never too late to learn. Good luck to you....you'll do fine!

New Pre-Nursing Student
I'm in a little worse place....I'm 48 with no college background. I will be starting a local cc in the fall with courses in algebra, bio and chemistry. Because these weren't my strongest subjects in HS 30 years ago, I need to take them before entering the Nursing Program. Oh well, here I go....back to school after 30 years. I'm a nervous wreck!
