I could have been starting the LPN program this Fall...

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi all. Long story short (that I have another thread about) I had to drop my classes last semester (Fall 2014) and started back this spring with a new major. I've recently decided to go back for nursing, and I have to wait until August to start my pre-reqs. AGAIN! :(

Right before the spring semester began, I found out that my college changed the entrance requirements for the LPN program, and if accepted, I could have been starting the program THIS fall. Now it will be a WHOLE year (and a half) before I start. I have to retake A&P next semester since I withdrew. I want to kick myself. I really do. Is anyone else having to wait to begin their pre-reqs? I am seriously ill with myself. I wish I wasn't so impatient..

I'm sorry. It happens though. I got pushed back a year because my financial aid had some weird clerical error and I ended up losing my spot in an anatomy class. Now I might have to delay a semester (maybe two) during the actual program because we've found out I can't wait until I finish school to have another baby. But the important thing is that you keep chugging along, and keep your eye on the prize. Life has tons of detours. I know it's hard to be patient, but realistically ten years from now this won't seem like such a long period of time!

Oh my gosh! I'm sorry. I think I'd be really upset if it were the college that was the reason for my delay. Instead, it was my own fault. I've been trying to get to nursing school since I got my GED in 2009! My hubby was Navy and our move from IL to VA messed me up. Then, I got pregnant. Decided to wait until we moved back to our home state to go, then one month after moving back home, I got pregnant again! I started school last summer. I have accumulated 20 credits (30 after this semester) with only 6 earned.. So, I have nothing to show for it. But you are exactly right. Life is full of detours. At least it gives us more time with our kiddos before we start those long shifts ;)
