I was accepted!! Advice for the future??

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

I'm a senior in high school and I was accepted as an early admit to the BSN nursing program at a large public college! 4000 apply and 100 early admits are accepted so I'm pretty excited! I'm a certified Nursing Assistant, volunteered at the hospital, and have job shadowed a bit so I'm very excited! Any advice for a traditional pre-nursing student like me? :)

Well, I'd iron out any bad study habits you have, such as texting while trying to study, etc.. College and nursing school (especially) will test your ability to understand and apply new concepts, which can be greatly diminished if you don't have proper study habits in place. Everyone learns differently, so use your strengths to your advantage. Do you learn best visually? Watch youtube videos and draw out concepts on a piece of paper. Do you learn best reading? Then read your book and lecture slides/notes. Do you learn best when listening? Try to record your lectures (With permission) and listen to them while driving or going on a morning walk.

Personally I feel most people aren't one or the other, they are usually in the middle of two, such as me, I'm visual and I'm a reader, so I read things then draw them out, and usually have no issues understanding and applying concepts that way. Nursing school is what you make of it honestly, it's not as hard as some people make it out to be. Study hard, study smart, and earn that degree.

@malenurse69 thank you so much!! I will definitely take note of all of that advice and apply it!
