How to get picked the first time

  1. I know I have to apply to get into the nursing program and only 30 students get picked each semester but I was wondering if there is something special I can do to get pick the first time? ( The best grades, etc)
    Thank you

Ask whoever is in charge of your nursing program - they'd have the best information on what they go by.

Hi Kim, I would guess that it depends on the school and the program. In the school I was accepted into there is a waiting list of 3 years. All of my pre-reqs were completed. They accepted 60 students every January and September. They would not even look at your application unless all classed were complete, your NET was taken, and you passed your medication test with an 88%. Good Luck getting in. Martha

I have to agree with the above posters. You need to talk to a counselor or an adviser to the nursing program to see what is needed. Every school's requirements and competitiveness varies.

Be sure to ask how students are ranked so you know how many points you will receive for doing whatever you need to do. I was not accepted a first time because I did not have as many co-requisite courses done by the time I applied compared to the students that were admitted. A few years ago this would not have been necessary, but competition has gotten to be so tough where I am applying that it is now necessary. Good luck. By the way, if you do not get admitted the first time, your world will not end. :wink2:
