Get into RN program in Miami with 2.66 GPA

I made the biggest error!!! During my waiting to get into chamberlain college, I took 2 courses in MDC just to keep my mind sharp, unfortunetly due to personal issues and job issues I didnt keep up with courses and forgot to withdraw from them on time...this lead for my gpa to fall...I assumed Chamberlain will use my Associates GPA, not my all cumulative GPA so I wasnt accepted and now I dont know what to do....or where I can go to continue my nursing career. I have my AA from MDC. Please help with any suggestions. Feeling disappointed and confused!!!!

What classes were they? You can retake classes that you failed. What school are you trying to get into and how is your science gpa?

Most schools will allow a retake of failed classes and replace the grades. Just retake them to fix your GPA.

To be blunt, you will be hard pressed to find any school that will accept you with a 2.66. Even if a min GPA is 2.5, other higher GPAs will get accepted over you. The only schools that would accept you with this low of a GPA would be schools with a waitlist or very expensive private schools. If you don't want to repeat courses, then try those 2 routes but be prepared to wait a few years, or pay out the a$$.

Are you set on that nursing program only? If so, you may have to retake those courses in order to boost up your gpa.

Are you open to other nursing programs? Other programs may not be as strict and more willing to work with you. I speak from personal experience, but I applied to 3-4 nursing programs in the area. My gpa was lower than a 3.0, so I was not sure if I could get into any program. Most of the nursing programs denied me except for one program. They considered my application after I took the TEAS test and was willing to take an extra class that focused mainly on helping me build good study habits/reviewed nursing criteria we just learned in class.

My point is... do not give up. If one opportunity closes, find another.
