Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello. I have been reading the boards for a while and find them very helpful, but this is my first actual post.

I am a somewhat older (42) year old Mom with one high schooler and one daughter in college and last year I returned to school full-time to be a nurse.

I have completed most of my prereqs and I am taking APII at the moment. I will apply to program hopefully in the next two weeks (have to take the dreaded TEAS first) and hopefully enter Nursing school in January.

That makes my Fall 2010 Semester: Micro, Patho, Intro to Nursing and Statistics.

Just looking for moral support : )

Hope you the best. Older is not a problem and 42 is not old. Your life experience may help you even do better. The hardest part is just getting back in the study mindset required of a student.

I have been back in for a year-mindset for studying is better than it was at 18! I study much more now than I ever did in high school /college (first go round).

Hey, Welcome! I am 45 and starting NS in September. I have a son in high school, another in college and 2 college graduates!

Thanks! I have 16 and 19 year old girls. Hopefully I will get to start in January. I need to turn in my application in the next couple of weeks. They don't start accepting until August 1 and I still need to take the TEAS. I'm a little scared of it. I haven't taken a standardized test since the ACT - in 1984!

Hi you will get plenty of moral support here. Its not unusual for older adults to attend nursing school. Nothing wrong with that, and 42 is not old. I unfortunately have to wait until next fall semester to start a nursing program, while I finish my last pre-reqs. Good luck in nursing school!
