Hi guys so here we are in AP 2 with this teacher that does not give us a study guide before exams . we have to KNOW EVERYTHING !! and if you don't know we need to figure it out because he said we are nurses and if we don't know we shouldn't pass his class :( . Do you guys get study guides before exams or not ? does that even exist in nursing school ?

We won't get study guides for the NCLEX so he's preparing you well! ☺️

It depends. Some of my professors have given them and some haven't. When I took A&P 1 and 2, we got a general list of topics we needed to brush up on before the exam, but it wasn't a detailed study guide or anything. I haven't started the nursing program yet, so I'm not sure what professors will do there.

I've rarely received study guide for any course in either my prior degree or for nursing school. It isn't that difficult to create your own - go back over the syllabus, find your major topics for the term, and what the instructor typically emphasizes (memorization of terms vs application) and write up your own list of topics. It's great when an instructor provides a study guide or other guidance for exams, but learn to think of it as a bonus rather than an obligation on the part of the instructor.

Yes, mostly all of my teachers in my non nursing classes have given study guides. Thats really messed up that you have not been given any. Theres a TON of information in anatomy and its literally IMPOSSIBLE to learn it all in just 1 semester. I would just review the notes that he gives in class or the powerpoints if he provides any.

Well technically any NCLEX prep book such as Kaplan is 1 HUGE study guide.

Like one poster said, go over your syllabus, hit the major points, and go over you class notes. I got study guides for each class I've taken and in my LVN program however; they're only used for guides. You have to know the material as well. Study guides are meant to only "guide" you in terms of studying. That's what my instructor told us the last term during our HESI exams. The study guides are meant to "guide" us and not give us the direct answer.

Also, I just want to say I have gotten study guides in my nursing classes too. My fundamentals study guide was really detailed, however as I moved up in the program, the study guides started to get less detailed. Now we just get study guides with broad topics on them that tell us what to focus on. But still, its something.

it is a lot of info , i'm on a bridge program and we only have 3 months to learn everything , i'm not struggling much but it is hard to learn every single detail , this teacher test on patients situations so learning how every single thing works is the key to passing his classes i'm not complaining don't get me wrong but the highest passing score in his class is 89 one student lol
