direct-entry bsn advice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hi! I am a junior in high sschool and have made my mind to wanted to become a RN's with a bachelor degree. I have done a lot of research and know the path I'm looking forward too. I want to go to a 4year direct entry college for a bsn program. My problem is I want to go to school in a southern state but haven't had any luck finding one. Please help me and comment southern schools that offer this program. Also comment stories if you went to a direct entry program and tell me your experience with getting in and stuff. Thank you!

Let me Google that for you ..... Accredited BSN Schools

I am a bit confused about your use of "direct entry". In any BSN program, you have to complete your pre-requisite courses - general education & sciences - before you can be admitted to the nursing program. It usually takes at least 2 years to complete the pre-requisites & then at least another 2 years for the nursing program. However, some programs are a bit longer.

There are some schools that allow you to get accepted to the university and nursing program concurrently without having prerequisites done. The entire first year are your prerequisites. They are pretty rare, though. Just Google it.

I haven't found any schools down south that offers programs like that. However there is a few schools in Ohio that offer programs like that to people under 27 and some even offers live in and stipend options with guaranteed / promise of 1 year employment after graduating.

At Ole Miss you use to be able to receive early acceptance into BSN program out of high school, or more like conditionally accepted if you finish the prerequisite classes your first two years, meaning if you did you'd have a spot waiting for you, but I'm not sure it's still done and you'll need excellent high school grades.

The University of Virginia also accepts students directly from high school into the nursing school. The nursing classes and liberal arts core are threaded through all 4 years of the program.

I think MCV has a similar program and I know at least two schools in NJ that do the same as UVA.
