confused .. need some advice

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

hi guys ,

Wish I found this site before maybe I wouldn't be in this confusion of a mess. I was a nursing student , I withdrew just the past 2wks ..I'm broken up inside to wake up and not going to lecture or clinicals. I wasn't passing my medsurg class. I was going to lecture and felt confused . I'm quite , I didn't ask for help and when I did I was asked the question back. I do not dislike my school but they are not very friendly to approach ( the professors). I felt like I was lost in some of the readings and I read page by page ( which I was told not to do ) . I needed some guidance I needed support. At first going to nursing school became a task , I was not loving the lecture but I found myself in clinical wanting to help every patient we worked with for that day. I felt needed and it felt good. I would like some advice .

1. should I reapply to my schools nursing program again?(its a 2yr school btw)

2. what books are helpful for medsurg?

3. I was looking at a masters in healthcare admin? any advice into this field ?

4. Do you truly LOVE being a nurse?

Thank you for taking the time out and words of advice . have a great day

1. Yes, continue working towards becoming a nurse.

2. Buy an NCLEX book and study from that instead of text books.

3. Admin positions require at least a few years experience, so focus on becoming an RN first, then getting your BSN, then getting your MSN before considering leadership jobs.

4. Yes, nursing has been a great fit for me.

Thanks alot hun.. just seeing this message , was logged off for a long time..thnks for yr response

Do you have any experience in the medical field at all? I feel that a lot of people jump right into nursing school without getting a feel for what its really like out there. my suggestion would be to take an STNA course, get an STNA job and work for maybe 6 months and then reevaluate. being an STNA will not only make you realize if you really want to be a nurse or not but it will make or break you. I started off quite but I got a backbone reallll quick. now I am not afraid to speak out or ask for help. give your self some time to explore options before jumping in again. if you just jump right back in you could end up in the same spot feeling the same way or even worse. for me I'm doing things in small steps, I was an STNA, for almost 2 years, went to Medical Assistant school for 6 months now I am going on my year and a half mark in pediatrics. My job pays for my nursing school and I'm confident knowing that this is what I want to do.

What's a STNA ? I'm in NY where can I find this ? Some more info thanks .. and I was a RN student and loved the clinical aspect so I k ow this is my calling and I agree , I would lo e to work in the medical field to have more of an open mind of thinking as I heard working in the field helps alot ..thanks for your response and advice .. send the Info and I will look into it..
