Charlotte NC- where to start?!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Specializes in PACU.

Hi,

I'm new. I'm an older (31yr old) student and would like to start my path towards RN. I have high school under my belt, and that's about it. Anyone in Charlotte area who has started from scratch have any guidelines for me? I'm looking into CPCC maybe? There's so much info out there, I'm having a hard time figuring out what my first steps should be.

Any help is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks!!!

Take a look at the website for the school. They'll usually list the prereqs there, and give a suggested course path.

You can talk to a counselor at the school. My experience, however, is that you'll get different answers from all of them.

31 isn't old- don't worry about that. I'm almost 34, and I'm right in the middle, age-wise, of my nursing class.

Cabarrus College of Health Sciences (CCHS) or Carolinas College of Health Sciences... much better clinical experiences. I just graduated CCHS with 740+ clinical hours under my belt... good stuff to include on your resume! Can't say enough good things about CCHS. CMC bought Concord Hospital and inherited their 50+ year-old nursing school (Louise Harkey School of Nursing, CCHS' old name) which is why CMC has two nursing schools (the other is Carolinas College of HS... mentioned above). I don't know much about Carolinas College of HS but I know they both have excellent reputations in the area which means YOU CAN FIND A JOB!!!!! Good luck. PM me if you need to know more. Good luck.
