bsn/msn programs

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hello

I am currently in college and i don't have a bachelors in nursing(i just realized i wanted to become a crna). The problem is that i don't want to go back to college and major in nursing, i rather try to get into a bsn/msn program. I am having a hard time finding schools that offer direct entry to bsn/msn programs. Can you guys help me find schools that offer this type of programs? Thank You

I'm sorry -- are you asking about the possibility of direct entry CRNA programs with no prior nursing experience? or general MSN programs?

a direct entry into a crna program with no prior experience i found one schoole named penn state

Specializes in NICU.

Penn State does not offer direct entry into their CRNA program without a nursing degree.

From their website: "Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia programs mandates that applicants have a minimum of one full year of critical care experience prior to matriculation we have found successful applicants have a minimum of two to three years of current critical care experience."

You need to work as an RN in an ICU for a minimum of 2 yrs to be competitive for any CRNA program. There is no short cut to CRNA. Every CRNA program is extremely competitive. You must have a BSN before getting your CRNA.

Think OP may have mistyped --- meaning University of Penn NOT Penn State.. Doing a google search for direct entry CRNA programs UoP does come up first..

However, looking carefully in their Direct entry BSN/MSN requirements it is very clear that they admit 2nd degree students and will award them a BSN upon completion of the curriculum and then the student would have an additional 5 years to complete the MSN program they were admitted under.. and for CRNA it requires at least 1 year of ICU experience..

So afraid Don is right on the money -- there is no shortcut to CRNA.

203bravo they at least offer you a spot in there msn program after you finish your bsn you do 1 year in the icu and then go straight to there msn program and specialize in crna is there any schools like university of penn?
