Biggest Obstacle You've Had To Overcome

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

We all have obstacles in life! What's the biggest obstacle you've had to overcome on you're nursing journey? How did you overcome them? Where you able to get back on track and stick it out to the end? For me, I would say getting married and then divorced only a year later was my biggest obstacle on my journey thus far. It pushed me back three semesters in school. I lost my self esteem and self confidence and felt that I was never going to be a nurse because I was "smart" enough. The passion to be a nurse NEVER died inside of me. So that's why I decided to push on and pursue being a RN!!! I am now in my last semester of prereq's and I am more confident than ever!!!!!'

Ummm.....

I was married when I decided to attend nursing school

Then he said he wanted me and our 3 kids to leave because I had no job,

Then he escalated abuse and kicked us out

I stayed on the path to become a nurse

I was homeless, living house to house with my kids

Then I was accepted to nursing school while homeless

I completed nursing school with a 3.6 avg GPA , overcame his false allegations of abuse,

I'm now a licensed vocational nurse now and was accepted at the public university where I'm completing my last semester of prereqs so I can apply to RN school, finally, after 4 years of being in school.

God is good !

Getting my divorce. I had started my journey 15 years ago to become a nurse. I got married. Ex did not want to pay the money for me to attend school and thought since I had a good paying job I should stay with that so I quit. Little did I know he just wanted a maid to cook and clean for him. I decided to go back to school after being a SAHM for 8 years. At the same time I enrolled, I filed for divorce. It has been a lot of work. My divorce was final a month ago and I finally feel like I am living again.

Well, I started school as a freshman pregnant, and then mid semester miscarried had to have surgery etc. Missed a lot of school still passed all my classes, I did not do as well as I had planned but I passed! Then after a semester my husband and I moved for his job, I had to transfer schools which put me another semester behind... then after we moved my husband had a mental break down and was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder and stayed 4 months in a state facility meanwhile I was trying to finish finals and work a full time job and still go see him daily which was a 45 min drive. Finally after months of recovery and him loosing his job and me forcing myself to pick up more hours I passed the semester and made the deans list! Now we moved back to where we are from, because it helped him with being closer to my and his family and he had a job offer. So now I am working full time and he is also so we can pay back hospital bills and build our credit back up. but we are now doing GREAT and I have noticed that through all the obstacles it has only made me want to be a nurse more and strive harder and it has made my marriage only stronger even when I thought I wanted to leave it wouldnt get better
