And now we wait!!!

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Well, after a year of studying my backside off and accomplishing a 4.0 GPA, I have finally applied for nursing school. This is my dream, and I have waited a long time to finally have the privilege of following my dream. I am an older student and am excited & scared all at the same time. The letters go out mid October and I am not sure my heart is going to hold up for that long.:clown: I hope I am accepted. Anyone one else out there chewing their fingernails along with me? Chime in, maybe we can all keep each other company.

My application is in for January 2007 admission and I received a letter that I have been selected to interview. Don't know how many applied to the program, but I did learn that 47 applicants will be interviewed and they will select only 30 for admission. I think I like those numbers!!

My interview is Sept. 25 and the letters go out sometime in October... crossing my fingers and saying my prayers!!

Although my advisor assured me we'd be notified "within a month" of the application deadline (which would make 10/15 the notification date), my instructor told us yesterday that she was told the application committee isn't even meeting until the end of October, and that letters aren't usually send out until nearly Thanksgiving. Oh, well. That's pretty much what I figured, anyway. If any university tells me something will happen within a month, I always take that to mean 3-4 months.

I applied to my program on Sept 15th, got a letter last Thursday that I'm an "alternate"....which do have a tendency to get picked up for the semester.....and then immediately the next day went to an earn as you learn info session/interview for my local magnet status hospital, if they get me into their program, I'm automatically starting nursing school then this spring. Got a call today for a second round of interviews......eeeekkkkk. I'm getting nervous. I've heard about people getting "the call" a week before classes start.

Hey if it makes any of you "waiters" feel any better:

My application deadline is March 1st for Fall 2007 and guess what?

How's that for waiting!

Good Luck to all of you! :icon_hug:

Thanks for calling to find out when the letters will be sent out. I applied to El Centro too and am so anxious to find out if I am in or not.

Gah! I was hoping we might find out today :)

Does anyone have any statistics or war stories on just how long a pre-nursing student can wait to get into nursing school? I have a B.A. and can probably transfer a bunch of pre-req credits.

But, I am debating whether or not its worth it if I'm going to be put on a waiting list forever. Is it months, years? :uhoh21: The big issue is, I need to work!

Also, has anyone gotten work in another healthcare field (to pay the bills) while waiting to get into nursing school?

Any information would be very much appreciated!
