where are the jobs for new nurses?
I would like to know the same. My father talked to a nurse while he in the hospital (Monmouth County) for a stay. She told him that it is difficult to find a hospital job and most newly graduated nurses work in nursing homes. Is this true?

where do old nurses go?
Here is a question for anyone reading this topic - What is the age of the oldest working nurse that you know? I'll be 39 and starting nursing school and I'm wondering how old is too old to work. Thanks!

Most sought after RN jobs?
What are the most coveted RN jobs? After reading a number of posts I am wondering if there is a "job satisfaction" level in some RN positions versus others. Would love to hear from anyone who is somewhat contented in their position. I am particularly interested in Labor and Delivery, Post Partum, Post Op, and Surgery.

Ocean County Community College
Anyone here attend or graduate Ocean County Community College? They boast that they graduate more nurses than any other community college in NJ.

And now we wait!!!
Thanks for that. I have to take a bunch of pre-reqs, so perhaps that will take up most of my time on the waiting list! And, congrats to you for making it thus far. You can see the light at the end of the tunnel now!

And now we wait!!!
Does anyone have any statistics or war stories on just how long a pre-nursing student can wait to get into nursing school? I have a B.A. and can probably transfer a bunch of pre-req credits. But, I am debating whether or not its worth it if I'm going to be put on a waiting list forever. Is it months, years? :uhoh21: The big issue is, I need to work! Also, has anyone gotten work in another healthcare field (to pay the bills) while waiting to get into nursing school? Any information would be very much appreciated!

Are we all old???
New to the board. I am 38 years old! Ugh! I am divorced, have 3 kids (5, 4, & 3). I RARELY get a break from my ex-husband. I have worked as a Technical Writer for years but do not want to return to it. It is a very volatile industry. One day they need you, the next day they are cutting the budget and you are the first to go. But despite all of the negatives, I have decided to become an RN via the Associates Degree route. Am I nuts? I do have a Bachelor of Arts that I should be able to transfer some credits from. I'm glad I'm not the only one concerned about returning to school!
