Alternatives to nursing school?

Hi guys!!

I am going to be applying to some nursing programs soon and i am a bit discouraged after reading posts about people with higher than a 3.5 overall not getting in especially with my 3.1 overall but 3.5 in prerequisites. So, i was wondering if there were any good alternatives to nursing. I know I want to get into a program but with my home situation I really can't put my whole life on hold hoping I'll get in especially if i've tried multiple times. I just want to cover my bases.

There's always the CNA>LPN>RN bridge route -- CNA programs pretty much are first come, first serve for enrollment, and LPN courses are generally less competitive as RN programs. Other health care jobs you could consider could be: orthopedic technician, medical technologist, physical therapist assistant, radiological technologist, respiratory technician, among others.

The above poster has good advice about applying to LPN programs as well as ADN/BSN programs. I'd also suggest applying to programs in less impacted areas - if you live in a major metro area with LOTS of nursing applicants for each seat it will more difficult to get a seat, than if you are applying to programs where there is less competition. If relocation is an option for you it may be worth while to broaden the geographic region in which you apply to programs.
