Advice for Pre-Nursing

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone!

I'm a hopeful future nursing student. I'm needing some advice on how to proceed. I'm wanting to do prerequisites at a two year college, then transfer to four year and get my BSN. Here's my problem - I'm not sure what to take! I haven't decided on a particular college. This fall will be my first semester, so what should I take? Any suggestions appreciated!

This will be my first semester as well and the nursing advisor has me taking a math class and she also thought it was best that I dive right into biology so I will be taking intro to biology since it's been a while.

I am also doing the same thing i took math, english those things first then my humanities my advisor actually wrote something called an educational plan which i followed its recommended something like a guide. I have a year left to finish my aa and i too want to transfer to a university to earn a bsn.good luck on your journey :D

This is what my advisor did as well. If I follow the outline then I will be able to apply for the nursing program in the fall of 2011.

Hey! I would suggest a biology course like maybe physiology, microbiology or anatomy:specs:. Maybe take math and an english course. I am also a new prenursing student and just started this summer. I am taking microbiology, english 1 and stats in the fall:uhoh3:. Good luck an i hope all goes well!!!!!!!!!:D

I think my advisor did a good job with my educational plan she took into consideration of all the hard classes and added something she and i both thought i could handle with the particular class.

You will definetely need to take Anatomy and Physiology and Microbiology. Also take statistics. Look at the schools that you are considering applying to and see what they have listed as a pre-req and compare it to the classes that are at your cc or go to the school with a list of your cc's classes and they will be able to assist you. You may also need a chem class depending on the school.

When you are taking the core classes like Anatomy, Physiology and Microbiology make sure you are taking lighter courses along with it. It would be best if you took one subject each semester that way you can focus and do well on it because grades are very important when applying to nursing school. Definitely consider a few nursing schools you would like to attend and then fulfill the requirements so that you have more than one school to apply to, which can increase your chances of getting in!

Good luck with your studies! It will be all worth it at the end !

That is a good plan. Just be sure that you check into how your credits will transfer so that some of your classes will not have to taken over, esp. the gen eds.
