Advice for choosing between nursing schools

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

I wanted to ask for some opinions. I have pick three top choices for nursing school. I was trying to apply for the Fall of 2013. Two of the schools are BSN programs, one has just a Fall admittance while the other has a Fall and Spring admittance. The last choice is an ADN program. I am wondering if I should focus on the prereqs for the BSN programs instead of ADN program? All are competitive to get into. The BSN programs both have the same requirements except one is private and one is public. What are your opinions?

As a nursing professor, I say definitely apply for the BSN programs. Some states are beginning to get rid of ADN programs altogether; some hospitals (such as those with Magnet status or university hospitals) will only hire BSNs and the competition now for jobs is really tough.

The private school will probably be easier to get into than the public one and there will be more hand-holding there, but it will be a lot more expensive.

Good luck in your decision!

Thank you for the advice! I am currently attending the ADN college to finish my prereqs but both the BSN programs are not requiring as much courses to take as the ADN. Oh yeah, this will be my second degree.
