A&P II and Micro in the summer - is it possible?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

My school's summer schedule just came out, and I am playing around with the idea of taking A&P II and micro together. These are my last two classes until I can apply to the RN program, which has about a two-year wait list. Sadly, at my school, you can have under a 3.0 GPA to apply to the program and they go by who can get their name on the list first. I also have to have all the classes completed before I can apply to put my name on the list. It would be a 10-week semester with classes three days a week. I have a babysitter lined up for my kids and would take the summer off work or work very little (I work as a medical transcriptionist). Right now I have a 4.0 GPA, and I am not afraid of hard work and I find that I enjoy studying. As long as a have a few hours a week to take my kids to the pool I would be happy. If anyone has done this, I would love to hear your experience. If anyone thinks I am crazy, I probably need to hear this too.

I did it with no problem, you can too!

I am currently taking Microbiology, Chemistry and AP I. I am in class 4 days a week and it is very intense, but completely doable. If you are a disciplined student (like it seems!) then you should have no problem. AP II is obviously very difficult, but Microbiology is a lot of fun and incredibly interesting.

However, I also do not have kids and work as a waitress 2 nights a week, so my life is pretty much set around school. But if you think you can find at least 1-2 hours a day to focus on readings for class and 2-5 hours to study before exams, then I think you can definitely make it work!

Also, if you know which professors you might take, maybe e-mail them and ask what they would think about balancing the two big workloads!

I think you can do it and still have a few hours for the pool. :-)

Good luck!

I think you can do it! If you're ready to commit the time to really study and prioritize your work load, it's do-able. I'll be taking Physiology & Micro (plus an additional Micro lab) along with Pharmacology in the Fall. It's going to be a challenge, but if you look at it from the point of view that every step gets you closer to getting in to nursing school...all the time & effort is well worth it.

I am currently taking micro and A&P I this semester. My biggest struggle is A7P I, I find micro to be easy. You can do it, just make sure you have a lot of time to study

Does anyone know by now what sciences would be best to take together? I have to complete Engl2 and College Alg as well as micro, a&p 1 and 2, and chemistry 1 and 2. All*sciences*are 4 hours (with labs), engl and math are both 3 hours each. I can be*available*to go on campus or online all day mon after 8 am *and wed mornings also after 8; or evenings. tues and thurs evenings. Idk about taking any sciences together what to expect, though I already checked professor ratings to get my first picks listed and ready. Could I or should I do any of them together and if so which? I would like to get my eng and math over in a semester with science to finish faster. I have a 4.0 after history and engl 1. I also took remedial math which was 4 hours mon thru thurs nights in the summer. Advice? Thanks everyone!:yelclap:

Check about prereqs for each course. In my experience I needed Algebra to do well in Chemistry, and to have Chemistry completed before taking A&P. Online courses are more time consuming, but you also have more scheduling flexiblity.

You might also check into intercession classes that are offered in the months between semesters, usually in May, August and December, after the regular semesters are finished. They are super fast paced, but are a good option of English and Algebra if you have the time to devote to them.
