The application process hasn't even started yet but I didn't even find out about last year's scholarship until a couple days before the deadline. I did get my application in on time but was not fortunate enough to be a recipient. I intend to apply again for the upcoming scholarship. Any tips from those that were accepted? My EFC is 0, I'm in an undergraduate program, and my GPA is 3.4.

Cecix,

Here is the link I used for the shortage area info. It lets you put an address and gives you shortage info HRSA - Find Shortage Areas: HPSA & MUA/P by Address - Version 2.0 HRSA - Find Shortage Areas: HPSA & MUA/P by Address - Version 2.0

Hope this helps.

These two links were really helpful. But is there anyway of locating a list of "hospitals" that are HRSA approved. In general I know you can work for federal hospitals or non-profits. Can the non-profit hospital be private or public? For example, Robert Wood in NJ is a private non-profit hospital does this count? Furthermore, it is imperative that I work in the ICU department as a new grad, will this scholarships hinder my prospects? The two links mostly provide primary care link facilities, I only want to work in a hospital after graduation, does anyone have experience with this? Thank you in advance.

Do you want/need ICU so that you can do a CRNA program? The only way that this scholarship could decrease your chances of getting into ICU would be because there are some hospitals that do not qualify for you to work at, therefore decreasing your amount of ICU units available. I know where I live the majority of hospitals are non-profit or public. Google "your state disproportionate share hospitals/public hospitals/non-profit hospitals. If you want to know for sure, call the HR department of the hospital. They can for sure tell you if they are eligible for the HRSA recipients. I would look for an internship or residency for new grads if you want to get into ICU. That is what I plan on doing because nursing is very competitive around here and that is the only way I will be able to quickly get into ICU. good luck!

Well said. Thanks

Application sent!

If anyone has any questions please let me know, I will try and answer them! I wish everyone the best in the journey through nursing school!

Hey! I've submitted my application as well but have a question. I submitted two transcripts, I uploaded one under the transcript link and the other under additional supporting documents. After reviewing my submitted application it has a list of documents and the one I submitted under additional supporting documents is not being shown. Is anyone else experiencing that or know why that is?

I just checked and my supporting documents isn't there either. I am going to give them a call and see what they say. I will let you know what they say. As far as my transcripts, i combined all of my pdf's into one document and loaded it under transcripts. If you can, that is what you should do for it if you can resend. If you have a mac, open in preview and click and drag 2nd file into the open file and it should add. A google search will help you find how to do it.

Well i contacted the agency and they don't know if i actually submitted it (which i did). They don't have the power to look at the application. She sent in a tech ticket and hopefully it's just a technical issue. If you find anything out, please let me know!

Application sent! Good luck everyone

Ani123: I called before submitting my application to find out how to submit multiple transcripts. I was told they needed to be 1 PDF uploaded under the transcripts heading. She said if I submitted it in supporting documents, that it would not be seen. Hopefully they can figure it out and you won't be disqualified!

That is crazy. i had to upload mine in different files because it said the one file was too large for the uploading system. I hope it does not disqualify any of us.

If files were too big, it was essential that you compress the files to reduce the file size. It is very important that you upload each document in the designated section. If you already submitted your application, I am not sure if this will hinder your chances overall, but it would not hurt to call the Help Line- but I would do so before the 5:00PM EST deadline.

Submitted it about a hour before the deadline! Applications are closed and now it is the waiting game!!!!
