I'm stepping back on this runaway train. Reapplied to UAB's AGNP/WHNP combined program for the Fall 2014 entering class. Has anyone else applied? The application deadline is late March!

He claimed it was on this form, although I don't see it anywhere:

The FAQ doesn't make any distinction in ADN grades (copied directly from the website):
Q: How do you calculate GPA?
A: For the bachelor’s program, the GPA is calculated from the overall GPA and the nursing-foundation-courses GPA. For the master’s programs, the overall GPA from all undergraduate-only courses and the last 60 hours of undergraduate-courses GPA.
As far as I know, UAB does not have a wait-list. So, no. He told me that if I do the calculations and I'm sure my most recent grades will pull my overall GPA above 3.0, then I should reapply for Summer 2015.
No. Just no.
Sorry, guys! I'll quit being a dark cloud here. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF YOU! I'm so excited to see you all begin this journey!

It was my understanding your gpa was calculated off your last 60 credit hours. USA calculates your cumulative versus UAB calculates your last 60 credit hours.
I would apply to USA if your cumulative is stronger.
My last 60 credit hours put my gpa at 3.89
No, my cumulative GPA is definitely not stronger. That's why my "last 60hr calculation" is hurt so badly by the fact that they won't include my ADN program in it, because once I got into nursing school, that's when I really started to excel.

I am in my second year of UAB FNP program, I started clinicals last month. I have enjoyed the program and have been impressed with my faculty. I have been able to work full time up until now and made the choice to go part time at work. Many of my classmates still work full time though.
I am THRILLED to hear this. I begin the NP program in May 2015!

Have any of you started the program so far? I'm interested in applying to their PMHNP specialty once I survive/graduate from my ABSN program this upcoming December. I was curious how it was going and if any of you had any advice on the application process, as well as if y'all looked into any other programs or ones that you would definitely steer clear of! Thanks so much.
