UAB Fall 2014 NP Programs

Published

I'm stepping back on this runaway train. Reapplied to UAB's AGNP/WHNP combined program for the Fall 2014 entering class. Has anyone else applied? The application deadline is late March!

And my backstory, if you haven't read the Summer 2014 thread:

I am an Iowa resident, and applied for Summer 2014 admission. After waiting for what felt like FOREVER, I received a rejection letter. When I asked the program coordinator for rationale for my rejection, I was told that a policy change had made them unable to admit Iowa students for the foreseeable future (despite the fact that I had clarified this before applying). I was told this week that they were again admitting Iowa students and was encouraged to transfer my app to the Fall cohort, and so here I am!

I'm looking at the program too! I'd love to find reviews of the FNP program though

If you look at previous threads here, I bet you'll be able to find lots of current FNP students to send messages to!

Just type in UAB in the search box above and many threads will pop up with some really good information.

I plan on applying to the UAB PMHNP program for Fall 2014. I am finishing up my RN-BSN program right now with late April as my graduation date.

Specializes in Operating Room.

I am considering UAB too! I took a couple of undergraduate courses there (online) and enjoyed the professors. I am putting my application in at EKU also, because some of their instructors are UAB graduates and they have an excellent pass rate for certification.

Good luck to all.

Specializes in Orthopedics.

I am in my second year of UAB FNP program, I started clinicals last month. I have enjoyed the program and have been impressed with my faculty. I have been able to work full time up until now and made the choice to go part time at work. Many of my classmates still work full time though.

I am in the process of completing my application for Fall '14 and was very excited until I read in another thread that daily, scheduled correspondence is required. Has this been your experience? I need to be in a program where I can work at my own pace, on my own time. Thanks for your help!

Its an online program, so you should be able to check your messages and discussions daily. Assignments are due from time to time and just keep up with deadlines. You know ahead of time what the schedule is for the semester. Tests/quizzes you usually have a day or two to take them.

Specializes in Spinal Cord and TBI rehabilitation.

Hey y'all! I'm living in Atlanta and heard about this program from a coworker. I still have to submit my essay in order to compete my application. I'm nervous about being an out of state applicant....I also have lots of questions, as we all do...

Are we required to find and coordinate our own clinical sites? I know this is the case with most distance learning programs

Will we be able to continue to work full time?

Will this be possible with a crazed ginger 6 year old running around?

Hopefully once we get the ball rolling we can make a Facebook group!
