UAB Fall 2014 NP Programs

I'm stepping back on this runaway train. Reapplied to UAB's AGNP/WHNP combined program for the Fall 2014 entering class. Has anyone else applied? The application deadline is late March!

Oh hey, the application deadline passed and I didn't even realize it! For some reason, I had it in my mind that it was March 28th, not the 22nd. Happy waiting!

When I was applying for the Summer 2014 cohort, they said it would take a month, and it actually ended up taking longer because Thanksgiving break fell during the waiting period. I think maybe it ended up taking an extra week? Maybe it was two weeks.

As a heads up it usually takes them weeks more than they say it will.

They said it would be the end of May...what is the deal with the statistics class?

The end of May?? That's two months!

Did you already get an email about your stats class?

The email (received 3/27) said they had a high volume of applicants and that we should hear by the end of May. It also told me how to see if my stat class will accepted as an appropriate class. It also said the orientations are June 5/6 or July 10/11 and that admitted students would sign up for orientation at a later date...Odd email.

Did you get that email from CB or from your program coordinator? I didn't get an email! :(

It was from the SON student affairs office. If they don't let us know until May, how can we sign up for classes? I need to take Stats.

I got the same email, I have to take statistics too :( I guess I'm going to go ahead and register to take it this summer. I'm thinking of applying to Samfords program too. Does anyone know if stats is a requirement there as well?

I just spoke with someone from admissions and they said high school ap stat scores of 3 or better will count as the msn stat requirement! Thank goodness.

So if my stats course matches up with one from their list, I'm good?

Hello everyone,

I applied to the NP/WH for fall 2014. I have been following ScaryKarrey's thread from summer. I am glad this thread exist to help make this waiting bearable. I too had some stuff missing and have now confirmed they have it.

mlholmes, it is my understanding that if the course matches with their list then you are ok.

I know there's at least two of you from the Atlanta area, me too.

scarykarrey - what was the thing with blazernet? Did that ever help anyone find out sooner if they were in or not?

Good Luck everyone!

So, I think the application deadline for Summer 2014 was October 28th, with an estimate of a month for admissions decisions, although the month-later date fell during Thanksgiving week, so we were all told it'd be an extra week or so. I was able to create a BlazerNet ID on December 3rd, although we figured out that people could create IDs upon applying, but wouldn't be able to log into BlazerNet unless they were actually admitted. People who HAD been admitted were able to log into the system on December 5th, the Admissions department stated they were stuffing envelopes on December 11th, and people started receiving letters on December 13th (I got my rejection letter on December 18th).

All that is to say that it definitely let you know about a week before you got your letter/packet that you'd been admitted. I'm sad that I was allowed to register an ID even though I hadn't been admitted, because it gave me false hope, but I can see why it'd make things more efficient on their end.
